Surface Prep Process

1
Surface Prep

First, the surface needs to be prepped. Fresh concrete generally requires minimal prep work. For existing concrete floors any pre-existing cracks, holes, chips, and sunken areas often require repair before polishing.

First, the surface needs to be prepped. Fresh concrete generally requires minimal prep work. For existing concrete floors any pre-existing cracks, holes, chips, and sunken areas often require repair before installing the epoxy coating.

2
Grinding and Honing

With the surface prepped, concrete grinding and honing begin to provide a fresh, even surface to polish. The amount of grinding is primarily dictated by the final look you want to achieve.

2
Mixing & Pouring

Once the surface is prepped, we’re able to mix the Terrazzo base, any coloring, and aggregates. Once mixed the Terrazzo is ready to be poured in place. For certain smaller applications we’re able to pour offsite and then install the finished Terrazzo.

2
Primer

Primer seals the slab and acts as the first bond layer.

3
Concrete Hardening

After the concrete has been honed down to meet project requirements, chemical hardeners are applied to reinforce and densify the concrete floor surface while preparing it for final polishing.

3
Grinding

After the Terrazzo has curred, we then come in with our grinders to smooth the surface and expose the aggregate.

3
Body Coat / Broadcast Coat

Whether it be paint flake, sand, or resin this is the main structural & aesthetic pieces of the system.

4
Final Polishing

After the chemical hardeners have cured, final polishing begins. The scope of the work is largely decided by the shine and flooring qualities you want.

4
Final Polishing

Once the Terrazzo is perfectly smooth, we will seal it and polish it to the desired finish.

4
Top Coat

A typically clear strong and scratch resistant protective layer that has UV resistant properties.
