Polished Concrete
Maintenance & Durability
Polished concrete is an extremely durable flooring option which is perfect for heavy foot traffic areas. Polished floors are not as vulnerable to damage as other materials and do not need replacing. They are easy to clean and won’t harbor dust, dirt, allergens. Polished concrete floors will likely never need to be replaced and if properly cared for should only require buffing to maintain their shine for many years.
High Light Reflectivity
Polished concrete flooring can help to project a bright, clean, contemporary image because of it’s ability to reflect more light into a space. Choosing a light and reflective hard flooring can also help to save energy by reducing artificial lighting requirements.
Customize the Look
While it might seem like the look of polished concrete is limited there are actually several ways that a more custom look can be achieved if desired. Polished concrete can be colored using concrete dyes and dyes can even be mixed to create custom coloring. Diamond has the ability to engrave concrete allowing for logos, graphics, and designs to be inlayed into polished concrete.

The Installation Process
First, the surface needs to be prepped. Fresh concrete generally requires minimal prep work. For existing concrete floors any pre-existing cracks, holes, chips, and sunken areas often require repair before polishing.
With the surface prepped, concrete grinding and honing begin to provide a fresh, even surface to polish. The amount of grinding is primarily dictated by the final look you want to achieve.
After the concrete has been honed down to meet project requirements, chemical hardeners are applied to reinforce and densify the concrete floor surface while preparing it for final polishing.
After the chemical hardeners have cured, final polishing begins. The scope of the work is largely decided by the shine and flooring qualities you want.
Yes, we can often repair or patch concrete before polishing. In extreme cases, we may suggest a polishable overlay for best results.
All of our countertops are polished and sealed to help prevent stains. Food, acids, and oil will not stain your countertop if wiped up immediately, but if left on for a longer period of time, could cause light spotting. That being said, concrete and Terrazzo are still a naturally porous materials which if not properly maintained may become more susceptible to stains over time.
